For nine days, the world's foiling community descended on Malcesine, Lake Garda, Italy, for the 13th edition of Foiling Week. Running from 27 June to 5 July, the event has evolved well beyond a sailing regatta, becoming one of the sport's biggest annual gatherings for athletes, brands, designers, manufacturers and innovators.
Recognised by World Sailing as a Special Event, Foiling Week brought together around 300 athletes across eight foiling classes, alongside industry leaders, national federations, media and thousands of visitors eager to experience the latest developments in one of the fastest-growing areas of watersports.
While racing remained at the heart of the event—with competition for the Moth, ETF26, WASZP, BirdyFish, WingFoil and other classes—the programme extended far beyond the racecourse. Equipment demonstrations, public foiling experiences, technical workshops, the Foiling Sport Congress and industry discussions highlighted how the event now serves as a meeting point for the entire foiling sector.
For paddlers, one of the standout attractions was the continued growth of the Surf Foil World Tour programme. The third Foiling Week Downwind Race attracted a record number of competitors, while SUP, WingFoil, Foil Assist and Parawing all featured as part of the expanding board sports programme. Italy’s Marnie Bertram claimed victory in the SUP division, with Teodoro Rofrano (Foil Assist), Tom Rofrano (Parawing) and Sergi Sanchez (WingFoil) also taking victories in their respective categories.
Away from the water, discussions focused on where foiling is heading next. The Foiling Sport Congress brought together national federations, event organisers, manufacturers and media to discuss innovation, participation and the future growth of the sport. Organisers also announced a new Foiling & Sailing Media Meeting, aimed at improving how foiling is covered and communicated globally.
More than a collection of races, Foiling Week has become a snapshot of where the sport is heading. By bringing together competition, technology, product development, education and industry under one roof, it continues to cement its place as the world’s leading festival dedicated entirely to foiling.
