Welcome to our collection of the biggest news and stories that have taken place in the SUP world from the previous month. Let's recap what happened in May 2026.

THE LAKE ROCKS Festival - 2026

THE LAKE ROCKS Festival returned to Lake Faak, Austria from May 14–17, bringing together one of the biggest international SUP race gatherings of the year as part of the SUP Alps Trophy and ICF World Ranking Series. Hundreds of paddlers competed across technical, sprint and long-distance formats, with the event once again blending elite racing, youth development and community paddling into one of Europe’s largest festival-style SUP weekends.

The event attracted a stacked international field, with several of the sport’s biggest names competing throughout the weekend, including Shuri Araki, Cecilia Pampinella, Sergio Cantoral and Esperanza Barreras. Alongside the racing, THE LAKE ROCKS continued building its reputation as more than just a competition, with clinics, demo sessions, live entertainment and public paddling activities helping create a major festival atmosphere around the lake. The event further highlighted the continued strength and growth of the European SUP race scene heading deeper into the 2026 season.

WingFoil Racing World Cup Türkiye - 2026

One of the biggest foil events of May took place in Urla, Türkiye, where the latest stop of the WingFoil Racing World Cup brought together many of the world’s top wing racers for an intense week of high-speed competition. Hosted by the International Wing Sports Association (IWSA), the event featured long-distance racing, marathon race schedules and challenging conditions that tested both endurance and tactical decision-making across multiple days on the water.

The event highlighted the continued growth and professionalism of wingfoil racing, with packed racing schedules, international participation and increasingly technical race formats becoming central to the discipline’s evolution. Several of the sport’s biggest names featured throughout the week, including [NAME], [NAME] and [NAME], as wingfoiling continues cementing itself as one of the fastest-growing crossover disciplines connected to the broader SUP and foil world.
