Kai Lenny has shared fresh footage from a recent SUP foil surf session on Maui, marking what he described as his “first time in a while” riding a strapped SUP foil board in the surf. Safe to say he's still pushing the limits of our sport.
Known for pushing progression across multiple foil disciplines, Lenny explained that he has more commonly been riding prone foil boards or using SUP foil setups for downwind runs in recent years, making the return to strapped SUP surf foiling a notable change in equipment and approach.
The clip features fast, flowing Maui surf lines with Lenny combining powered carving and foil speed while revisiting the more locked-in feel that foot straps can provide in steeper surf.
