The inaugural Race To The Castle endurance SUP event, a 40km downriver race from Nottingham to Newark along the River Trent in the UK, concluded over the weekend with Tanja Ecker & Mark Salter claiming victory in the 14' SUP class.
Race To The Castle is a paddle board event that celebrates the strength, strategy and courage a paddler makes when they commit to an ultra distance paddling challenge. This was the first annual R’Castle event which took place on Saturday 27th April, 2024 and is a 40km downriver paddling race through the lush, rolling countryside of The Trent Valley, UK from Nottingham to Newark. The event is organised by SUP Fitness and below are the results and reflections from the day.
Congratulations to all the padders that took part in yesterdays Race To The Castle: The 40km Nottingham to Newark SUP Event. 200 paddlers from all over the world joined in. The wind was blowing strong from the east which meant our padders had to dig deep, make decisions and react. It was a tough day paddling. They had to do the hard things… but everyone finished smiling and danced the night away together.
We want to say a thank you to all our crew, supporters, sponsors and local community for all your hard work yesterday and the preparation over the last few months. See you next year!
