Mackay, Australia will host the annual two-day SUP/Ocean Ski/Outrigger competitive races including the technical surf battle, flat-water sprints, free community clinic, short (5km) and Long (10km) courses.
After a successful inaugural event, athletes from Cairns to the Gold Coast are expected to descend on Mackay for the region’s premier paddle sports event!
With the addition of a second day, and more paddle sports, The Platypus Paddle is set to take over the Harbour Beachfront across the July 9th and 10th weekend. This year’s event will include OC1/OC2, Outriggers, and Stand-Up Paddleboarding, as well as 2 community paddle sports clinics.
SUP athletes will converge in front of the Breakwater Bar & Restaurant on the Saturday to compete in 200m sprints, 2km sprints and a technical race to claim the coral crown! Ocean Kayaks, Outriggers, and Stand-Up Paddleboards will then test their endurance in the 5km/10km long courses on the Sunday in front of the Mackay Surf Life Saving Club.
