How To Prepare For SUP Race Season with Blue Ewer

Welcome to this new series about getting into SUP racing. In this SUPboarder video, Blue Ewer shares his insights on how best to prepare for the race season ahead.

Blue is an already accomplished SUP racer having won six national UK titles for SUP racing. Blue is dedicating 2023 to competing in more international events, so we caught up with him just before the season kicks off to speak about his training preparations. Blue shares valuable insights about how best to prepare for races, speaking about on the water training and some drills that will help get your body shape alongside off the water training in the form of gym sessions, cardio workouts and getting your mental game in place.

These tips can be used for both long distance or sprint events. Please remember to warm up and cool down after training sessions and consult a personal trainer or coach for more specific workouts that will suit your body type. Exercising needs to be fun or you won’t stick with it.

Blue is a SUP Racer from South Devon in the United Kingdom and currently holds six British titles for SUP racing. In 2022, he moved into the European and International race scene, competing against the world’s fastest.

Career highlights to date include a fifth place in the technical race at the European Championships and 9th in the Sprints at the ICF World Championships.

Blue has plenty more to prove in 2023, with most of his time spent on the Euro Tour and the APP World Tour.
