The team at Travel With A Paddle packed their SUPs and headed for Greece! With lots of paddling opportunities, this SUP adventure focussed on highlighting the importance of the National Marine Park and the Mediterranean Monk Seal.
A secluded little island in the Aegean Sea was our destination and we chose this spot as there is a National Marine Park that has been successfully operating for over 20 years.
It was our hope that we would encounter the elusive Mediterranean Monk Seal on our stand up paddle boards. With only 800 individuals left in the world, this would be a rare sighting. It was incredible to see the biodiversity within the Park and how well managed it is by both the government bodies and the local community who regulate fishing practices and drive eco tourism.
Did we find the seal? Watch to out!

Billy the seal!!! He’s famous. We met him in the north of the island. When he eventually set off away from the beach i paddled alongside him for a while.
Yes, that’s Billy! What incredible creatures. I have heard he swims with people and gets quite friendly at times! What an amazing place.
