Super talented professional filmmaker / photographer 'Mr B' had an unbelievable encounter whilst out paddleboarding off his local beach in Cornwall recently.
“Paddling back from an already stunning paddle I had the encounter of a lifetime. It truly was like being in a BBC Nature documentary from my paddleboard.”
We asked Anthony Butler aka.. Mr B what he loves about SUP and why the uses it for so much of his water wildlife filming?
“I think the reason I’ve fallen in love with my paddleboard adventures, and the wildlife encounters that come with it, is that you feel completely part of the environment. There’s no craft, vessel or engine, just you and the ocean, which makes the encounters feel more natural: a chance meeting of different species immersed in the environment. Seeing wildlife directly beneath your feet as you stand on the water will always be my favourite way of experiencing nature.
Encountering wildlife from a boat is still an incredible experience, but from a paddleboard there just feels like a different kind of purity to the moment.”
A truly magical experience, beautifully filmed and put together. It really shows just how unintrusive a paddleboard can be around wildlife, when behaving respectively, as this incredible feeding frenzy unfolds and continues naturally all around him.
