The Starboard TallTwin brings two worlds together. TwinFin speed and looseness meet Longboard SUP glide, trim, and nose-riding flow. Fast and free through turns, smooth when trimming, and stable on the nose, it delivers modern performance with classic style.
Starboard has unveiled the new TallTwin, a fresh addition to its SUP surf range that takes inspiration from two very different styles of surfing.
Built around the speed and release of the popular TwinFin, the TallTwin stretches the outline into a longer, more parallel shape designed to deliver effortless glide, smoother transitions and genuine nose-riding capability without sacrificing the fast, flowing feel of a twin-fin.
According to Starboard, the goal was simple: create a board that paddles earlier, carries speed naturally through flatter sections and links turns together with less effort, while remaining loose enough to encourage drawn-out carves, cutbacks and progressive surfing.
Longboard DNA meets TwinFin performance
Rather than simply adding length to the TwinFin, Starboard has reshaped almost every aspect of the board.
Key design features include:
- Longer outline for increased glide, paddle speed and earlier wave entry.
- Slightly pulled-in nose that still supports nose riding while reducing swing weight.
- Moon tail designed to combine drive with quick pivoting turns.
- Twin-fin setup that reduces drag and creates a fast, free-flowing feel, with the option of adding a nubster for more hold in larger surf.
- Pronounced hip behind the fins to create a clear pivot point for tighter turns.
- Refined tail channels and finer rails through the rear half of the board for smoother release and more powerful carving.
Starboard also says deck shapes have been tailored to each size, with flatter decks on the larger models for comfort and stability, and more domed decks on the smaller sizes to keep the rails sensitive.
Built for flow
The TallTwin is aimed at riders who enjoy surfing with speed rather than constantly generating it.
Starboard describes the board as offering:
- natural down-the-line speed
- easy section connecting
- smooth transitions from nose riding into turns
- a loose feel without becoming skatey
- confidence across a wide range of wave sizes
The company believes it will appeal equally to longboard-inspired surfers wanting more manoeuvrability and existing TwinFin riders looking for additional glide and trim.
