How to Choose the Right Wing for Learning to Wing Foil

Choosing the right first wing can make a huge difference to how quickly you progress, and how much you enjoy wing foiling.

A lot of wings on the market today are focused on performance — speed, efficiency and upwind ability. And whilst that’s great for experienced riders, it’s not always what you need when you’re just starting out. In fact, starting on the wrong wing can actually make learning harder, and way more frustrating than it needs to be.

“In this video, we break down the key design features that make a wing easier to learn with, and more importantly, why wings designed specifically for beginners can help you progress faster.”

To help explain these points, we’ve used the Starboard Source throughout the video. It’s a wing designed with beginner riders and progression in mind, but the advice in this video applies to any beginner wing you might be considering.
