The 2022 Armstrong range of foils, boards and wings has grown in size and performance.
Overview
Armstrong is a name that is very well known in the foiling market and is leading the way when it comes to many of their foil designs and developments. Based in New Zealand they have a passionate team, that are solely focused on making the best performance foils out there. A good example of that is the new HA foil which Arnie Armstrong brought to us earlier this year. It has been getting many surfers, wingers and SUPers stoked, with its extremely high level of effortless flight, great pumping performance and carvability. And also with the subtle tweaks made to the already existing and very popular HS 1550 V2 it offers the rider more performance but still with a very similar easy and stable feel. In this video we speak about the range and what else Armstrong have got for us in 2022.

Great review, thanks, so helpful to have an explanation of the difference between HS and HA foils.
Glad you found the video helpful.
Thanks for another great overview of the range. There is no doubt the Armstrong kit is a the top of the market price point but in my experience so far it has been well worth the investment. I’m using the Wing SUP FG 5’11”. I’m 95KG and often wing on the local fresh water Lough which has some very gusty sheltered bays where the wind can come and go… so I need to have some volume to get me home. Despite the length and volume of the board it feels so small when foiling. I couldn’t believe how quickly it… Read more »
another great comment Ciaran. Its so good to get real world rider feedback on posts. I think there will be (I hope) some updates to the other HS wings in the mid to big sizes anyway. But also when the wind is up, you might be ready to take on something like he HA 925 BOOOOOOMMMM, your loch is big enough to handle the speed of it.
Love this review thank you. Am looking at an FG in 2023. Two questions: Is the rear footstrap movable on all sizes? It’s hard to tell in the pictures but it looks like there’s only two plug holes. I like a wide stance so want to crank it back as much as possible. I ride on a gusty freshwater lake, and so typically aim for weight in L to ensure I float and tolerate the drops in wind (around 85kg so ride 85-90L). Does the FG follow the same rules or would you go smaller given how stable and easy… Read more »
Hey Harry,
Thanks for your questions.
1. Yes the footstrap is movable on all sizes – I also double checked this with Armstrong as we only saw one model of the FG SUP.
2. I wouldn’t say you need to change your rules for the FG board to be honest – I didn’t feel that the differences were that huge to justify that.
Hope that helps!
