Great article, look forward to the speed comparison videos!
Hi Trevor, 14′ touring boards often have more bungee space and extra volume to carry gear on, but make sure to check the widths and cargo space before buying as some have narrower areas than others for carrying gear.

Hi, very curious to see as well the speed comparison. I am not expecting a massive difference (eg > 1 km/h average speed) because of same model/similar outline (vs. a 10′ long SUP and a 12’6 race). I found out also watching one of your videos another interesting parameter to consider is the ratio of your average BPM/speed or I/O ie “how much effort should I put in to get speed or glide”. I did use this to compare two different fins size/shape on my board, and the results are quite significant. In my opinion, I would prefer a 12… Read more »
Hi Olivier, thanks for your comments and good words. As you have said when it comes to test gear there is a-lot to consider. We have done tests before where the data was 80% good but if not 100% it doesn’t give you the absolute answers across all water and paddler types. The answers are out there but it takes and lot of time the get it right. But we will share our findings for sure.

Good you talked about just how much further it is to move on step back turns. Its something that really surprised me when I first moved up to a 12.6 touring board from 10.6 all-round. Got a 14′ race board on order for the spring which will be fun. Just gives me more reason to get out there and practice often 😉

Thanks Fiona. Glad you liked the video.
What about carrying gear?
Dose the 14″ give you more volume to tour on?

Glad you’ll be getting into the racing scene. I’m sure with a bit of practice, you’ll nail the step back turns!
This was a terrible “teaser” trailer.
I’m going to discuss this in the video…
