Watch head-to-headWhat the brand says
The JP-Australia Surf range is designed for the “no-compromise”, top to bottom performance in the proper surf conditions for riders of all sizes. The whole Surf line has unique features: single to double concave flowing into a V tail, pulled in nose and tail, progressive rocker line and thin rails. The sophisticated color scheme, with black shades on the deck and red rails, creates a powerful design to this product. In addition, its pure performance-oriented layup makes the Surf the best choice for the perfectionist wave riders.
All of the boards come with a 5 fin setup option and 3 fins. The whole range comes with FCS plugs, and the boxes positioned for the center fin allow the rider to choose 2 different fin positions.

This is my go-to board at the moment. I’m 6’1 90kg on a jp pro 8’6 It’s a very light board to feel especially compared to my 8’10 Flow which is presenting some new challenges. For example I surf in tough conditions a lot(read strong wind) & I find even though the jp sits lower in the water and is smaller the rail catches the wind and throws me off more than the Flow. It gets caught by the current a lot more too but I expect that as its more in than on the water. Also wind chop goes… Read more »
Hey Sauce Man, TBH you have raised some really good questions in your last comment. I think we should put together a footwork video about all this. I think the main things are, keeping your feet slightly offset (you probably already doing this) this allows you to lift and sink rails easy. But also I tend to sink the tail all of the time, which keeps the nose out. That way I feel more stability over the tail. Because the water is all over it. And turning to catch waves is much quicker too. And remember brace with the paddle… Read more »
Awesome Reuben Yeah I’ve been experimenting with my foot placements a lot. At first I thought the closer I keep my feet to the centre of the board the more it’ll just bounce around without affecting me and to a certain degree that worked however is only useful if you are out back waiting, mostly now I’m doing as you suggested and find it more demanding but more controlled if that makes sense. I’m looking forward to seeing you guys navigate out there, there must be a lot of things you do that you don’t even notice. Interesting that you’re… Read more »
Yes definitely look out for some more videos in the future discussing this. I might even have a conversation piece with Beau because he actually riders with his feet really close together which I find much harder 🙂 look out for some stuff on the site soon.
i have the 2020 8’6 & 2021 8’10 JP Surf & they are both great boards for me at 85kg. They catch waves well & are pretty easy to surf. They have improved my surfing through both increasing the number of waves i get per session & being easy to surf / forgiving on the wave. I have ridden the 8’6 for 4 hours in 30mph off shore fine, but really after a couple of hours i do get tired on it, whereas the 8’10 is more comfy & i can ride it all day (6 hours + in a… Read more »
