This has to be one of the fastest 28" wide raceboards out there. But it's way more than just a raceboard. Its stable feel makes it also ideal for mid to heavier weight paddlers wanting to go further afield fastIt feels at home on flatwater but alive in any bumps.
For some the price might be too much. Many mid weight paddlers should not over look the narrower 26" wide board also.
Buy if... you're a nid to heavier weight paddler looking for a cutting edge design board to race leisurely or competitively on flat and open water conditions. And / Or you are looking for a board to do more than just race. The 28" wide All Star is going to be so much fun for intermediate to advanced paddlers wanting a pedigree board to do it all! Race, fast cruise, explore more and even convert to a full on tourer!

What the brand says
From entry level riders, to elite racers; the All Star is the worlds most winning, versatile and user-friendly race design.
We have board widths for all rider weights and skill levels. 24.5” and wider are suited for heavier riders, while 23” and the new 21.75” are for higher skilled and lighter riders.
All our Starboard team riders’ race and win on production boards from our own moulds.
• Available in the lightest, fastest and strongest Carbon Sandwich technology and our best value Wood Carbon Technology.
• We have refined the standing area thickness so it limits water entering and helps the water drain out faster.
• Lowered round vee bottom reduces the rolling from side to side, increasing your overall control and stability from a flatter bottom shape, while still maintaining lift for fast acceleration.
• Rounded rail edge at the tail increases overall glide, and is more maneuverable for you to change direction and steer the board downwind.
• Narrower and sharper nose kick slices through water with a cleaner entry, increasing acceleration and glide.
• New narrower 21.75” is the fastest model for high skilled and lighter riders, with comparable and even more stability than the predecessor 22.5”
Interesting that you should mention the touring capabilities of the Allstar. I have used my 14×27 Allstar for a multi-day SUP camping trip. (Full length of the Pumicestone Passage from top to bottom 36km) I had to get pretty creative with rigging up the rear bungies (without modifying the board) using the rear leash hole, but it can be done. Though I must admit when the wind started to blow I was at a severe disadvantage to my brother who was in his FSK (Fast Sea Kayak) but I held my own most of the way until then. Perhaps on… Read more »
Epic Damien, So good to see you are already on this type of thing. Putting the extra attachment points on the board would be a fab idea. Im sure the weight wouldn’t go up that much. And for many paddlers it will be worth the weight gain. Keep us upto date with any more adventures.:-)
Great review as always. Can’t wait for the All-star / Generation comparison video as I’ve just received the 14′ Generation (litetec)….rode this All-star at a recent demo day along with the 2022 sprint (the new nose is a knife!) but the All-star sadly out of my price range! One thing in this video…you mention adding extra bungees for touring…the huge deck space at the back of the Generation is screaming out for this…got any tips for the best way to do this / which fittings to use that are still easily removed for surfing / downwinding? Cheers!
Hi Richard, Thanks for your feedback. Regarding adding extra bungees this is something that we are looking into. We are doing research and let you all know what we find out. We will make a video about how to customise your board. Thanks
Hi Reuben and all at sup boarder
Great review as always. I was wondering if you had considered the infinity e ticket. I know it’s not a race board but it is a fast touring board and the new model has fore and aft bungies. I have just order one for next March from surf sup Bracklesham west Sussex. Really looking to putting it through its paces around the North Devon coast. Thanks for all you do at sup boarder pro. I’m looking forward to another action packed year of all things sup.
Cheers
Rod
Hey Rod. Thanks for the comment and glad you are loving the site. Regarding the Eticket, this was a board that we have all been talking about and are very interested in too. And yes it could of been thrown in the mix with the other boards in the video. But I decided to keep it to race boards only. And I haven’t used or seen any of the boards up close yet. But we are trying to get on for a test as well next too.
I would say the Edge 3.0 from One is another good option in that versatile / race category. I’m paddling the 25.5″ width, but they also make a 27.5″ option that would be comparable to the All-Star or the RS in my opinion. Same issue – I wish there were D-Rings in the front and the back so I get more options for touring. But I think it’s a really capable board: very fast for fitness paddling and dabbling in your first races; but also stable in a wide range of conditions. I’m very fond of mine.
Thanks for your comment and feedback Bastien. I did think about putting this board into the mix, but I thought the tail shape pushes the board towards more of a flatter water focus than the others. But good to know you are loving it so for others it could be a contender too. But yeah needs eyelets for bungees.
When is the Generation vs Allstar video coming out? I’m looking to get a 28 wide board very soon✨
Hey Nicolas, very soon. We have started to film it.
Awesome… Can’t wait to see the Comparison of the Generation Vs Allstar 28″ I’m a big fan of the Allstar dugout because I like getting my feet wet when paddling… most boards keep your feet dry in normal days… I live in Florida so cold water is not a issue… I’m not sure if the 2022 version keeps your feet more dry? Did they raise the the dugout a bit and does the hole caps keep your feet more dry? I love the idea of getting a all around board like the Generation but I’m not a fan of dry… Read more »
Hey Nic, Thanks for your comment and thoughts. Regarding the dug out and dry feet. The All Star is a very dry board. Very little water comes in through the holes. Obviously if you’re a heavier person and sinking the ball down into the water more this may change. The only Time I got water inside the board was from doing a step back turn or rocking the board from side to side doing our stability test. Apart from that I think it’s a very dry board. But look out for the comparison video very soon it’s really interesting :-).
