WingFoil Racing World Cup season kicks off with action in Hong Kong

The 2026 WingFoil Racing World Cup Hong Kong delivered a thrilling season opener from 4–8 February 2026, as elite wingfoil racers battled variable wind and tight competition off Stanley Main Beach in Hong Kong, China.

In front of a strong international field, Italy’s Alessandro Tomasi claimed victory in the men’s division, converting his performance in the final medal series to secure the overall win. The final was decided in a first-to-two format, with Tomasi taking advantage after his main rival splashed out in the closing stages to take the title.

On the women’s side, China’s Yana Li clinched the overall win in a dramatic final. With both leaders dropping off their foils in the last 100 metres, Li managed to hold her line and cross the finish first, securing a memorable victory in front of the home crowd.

Competitors from around the world took part across multiple rounds of the event’s medal series, which pits the top qualifiers against each other in head-to-head racing to decide the final placings. The revised medal format added extra pressure to each heat and kept the competition close through to the final day.

The Hong Kong stop marks the first time the city has hosted a WingFoil Racing World Cup event and sets an exciting tone for the 2026 wingfoil racing season as athletes now look ahead to the next rounds on the international calendar.
