Monthly Round-up of SUP / February 2024

Welcome to our collection of the biggest news and stories that have taken place in the SUP world from the previous month. Let's recap what happened in February 2024.

RYA Dinghy & Watersports Show - 2024

Farnborough International (UK) welcomed a vibrant celebration of small boat sailing and boardsports last weekend as thousands descended on the RYA Dinghy & Watersports Show supported by Sunsail (24-25 February 2024).

The much-loved season-opening show brought together passion, knowledge and a thriving sense of community, with some 8,900 attendees seeking out opportunities to learn, shop and network to get the most out of their time on the water.

Featuring dinghy sailing, windsurfing, wingsurfing and foiling as well as paddleboarding, the show brings together participants, clubs, training centres, Class Associations, equipment manufacturers and retailers from right across the small boat sailing and boardsports community, all sharing their skills and expertise and helping more people spend more time afloat.

The show expanded to see 171 exhibitors joining this 2024 edition, with visitors from all over the UK as well as overseas including from France, Norway, Spain, Bermuda and Singapore.

Sydney Downwind Foil Race - 2024

The inaugural 2024 Sydney Northern Beaches Downwind Foil Race was held on the 4th February and was the biggest foil race in Australia to date.

With a forecast that was looking epic, the 50 competitors were amped to get this competition underway. However, tricky conditions greeted everyone on race day with only about 10 knots of wind. This did not deter the field which consisted of world class foilers and it was James Casey who eventually took the win. See more info and full results via the link above.

Starboard Announces Dream Team - 2024

Starboard has announced their 2024 Dream Team of riders, with some fresh faces joining one of the most iconic brands in SUP.

“I am proud to introduce our 2024 Dream Team to you. We have an incredibly diverse and talented group of athletes. Diverse because our riders, men and women, cover the whole SUP spectrum from race, wave, sprinting, adventure, and expeditions to big waves, with World Champions in every category. Talented also, every rider deserves to be on the Dream Team in their own right, but especially this year, we have a lot of fresh new talent working their way up through the ranks. Watch for our bright orange noses sticking out in front of the pack.” – Bart De Zwart: Team Manager
