Great video! I would be interested in your suggestion of a comparison between the Black Project and Starboard paddles please
what are the British legal requirements for PFD. In north America they are required on board a SUP not necessarily worn. However if you do not wear them then you need other Kit on board.
At present there is no legal requirements at sea, but in inland waters they have some local rules.

Great format guys. Almost a ‘3 men in a pub’ discussion. Looking forward to the iSUP mega test, sounds interesting. I think the PFD debate is a good one, and definitely think PDF or leash is a must. The safety aspects of the sport are really difficult to get across because it’s seen as easy, once you can stand up that’s it (as we know that is just the beginning of the SUP journey). Also, advertising shows idyllic locations and bikini-clad ladies and hunky guys….not a PFD in sight…..or a rain cloud….or wind chop. Maybe the manufacturers could do more… Read more »
Hi Neil, Agreed. The accessibility and ease of the sport has meant the safety aspect is often cast aside and many product videos from brands don’t even show leashes being worn. Seems like a shift is already happening though, so let’s see what comes from it. Thanks for your support.
Glad you liked it. And look out for our SUP safe series to help educate SUPer how to be safe on the water soon. Thanks for the comment.

Great format, interesting, informative and entertaining. As a relative newcomer to sup surfing, there seems to be similarities to other adventure/extreme sports where the ‘consumer’ initially creates demand (as with first mtbs, we made our own!), then the ‘industry’ tells us what we ‘need’, we all rush down the next rabbit hole only to then start modifying kit to meet our own personal requirements. It’s interesting and exciting to anticipate the next developments but also frustrating that it is almost impossible to see/find boards let alone demo them. I wouldn’t consider buying an MTB or skis without seeing them or… Read more »
Hey Paul. Thanks for taking the time to get back to us with some really good feedback. This is something that I will share with the Team and look at bring into our video into the future.
This year has been a hard year for many sports, stock wise but I hope shops will have more demo gear available soon. We have always had a dream of having a massive demo centre for SUPs for readers to try and give feedback of gear too. Thats one of the big goals for us. Thanks again happy SUPing, Reuben
