Reuben unboxes two brand new JP-Australia surf SUPs, the Surf 8'1" x 28" @103L and the Longboard 9'6" x 28" @130L.
Check out more from these boards soon with our SUPboarder PRO surf tests about to be released.
Remember these first look videos are not full SUPboarder reviews, they’re not even close! They are unedited, gut feeling videos showing what’s in the box and how they look for the first time.
I love the look of the Longboard! With a few liters more as my Starboard 10ft longboard it has like magic numbers… Regarding the multiple FCS boxxes: Gong did this already 8 years? ago. Its really nice IF you stick to the original fins, but a pain in the #ss if you want to run a larger single centre fin. imo the BEST solution would to put an US box in it and ad an US-FCS converter with it. they are around 25,- and add a lot more options, so does adding FCS2 boxxes. Thanks for the comment.
I hadn’t picked up on Gong doing this. Thanks for the insight. As it’s their Pro Surf shapes, I can see why they opted for the FCS plugs in the centre – but agree that a US box offers more options for fin sizes. FCS2 is another great spot.
Luckily it has an air vent for releasing, but again, that was my first thought on a hot day!
We have been out testing the longboard and like how it feels. The PRO Longboard test will be out soon so keep an eye out.
I wondering if you looked at or tested also the Quatro carve pro 8.0′ as I am looking to buy a surf board in this range ( I have also looked at the JP Surf 8.1 & RRD I wave 8.0′)
I am 64 years old 61Kg 163 cm height, surfing all year around (wind surfing wing foiling and SUP surfing)
thanks
Unfortunately I haven’t had a go on the carve but the shape does look nice. I believe we did contact Quatro to try and get them into our SUPboarder Pro surf SUP test which is due out this week, but they didn’t get any boards ti us for it. In the test we have the Fanatic Prowave, RRD iWave, Naish Maddog, Starboard Pro and the JP surf. So would be well worth watch that one.
