“Here is a quick review of the 9'5 board I bought.Bag: very spacious bag with wheels with a large front pocket to put fins & stuff . Looks quite sturdy.Techno specs: Construction: Woven dropstich "crossed yarns" 2 fused layers Central 3 layers stringer (top and bottom) 15-20 PSI Fins and rails 3 fins setup with 2 FCS2 autoclipping with a small ball to block the fin there are also 2 small holes to screw them in place. 1 US Box 1 large black rubber-like rail at the back Handles 2 side-front handles - silicone (for turtle dive) 1 central - neoprene doubled 1 rear - siliconeLook/Finish the look is nice with lively yellow, green and blue colors. The combination of yellow and green is a bit weird at first, but I found it nice. Finish is clearly not as good as with a JP surfair. There are a few glue marks and some colour defects at the edges of the rails not assorted with the color of the board. These are "details" though and not very apparent. On the water ( 1 session with waist high waves)- At 15 PSI the boards feels relatively stiff, but the nose feels a bit wobbly or vibrating when surfing. - At 20PSI the board felt stiffer than any inflatable I have ridden, and certainly a lot stiffer than the JP surfair.- The board feels lively and turns quite easily- it is very stable even for my current 94KG- the nose is relatively narrow and cuts reasonably well through the waves when paddling out.- one big limitation for beginners, is the (too) small rocker. Nose dives where plenty at the beginning of my session, but after a few hours, I got most of my startups right, but needed to get back on the board quickly in order to lift the nose a bit more to cope with the slope of the wave.- There is a D ring at the bottom of the nose which I found a bit annoying. I had an impression that it would drag in the water at the startup of the wave. All in all I really like this board and look forward to surf more with it. The sensations I had where closer to my Fanatic Allwave 8’9 than any older inflatable I have tried yet. It is nice to see that the technology moves forward!I think it is worth looking at this board, certainly at the price I got it for ( 350€ on sales ) but event at the current list price of 469€ for the new 2022 model”

What the brand says
“The inflatable SUP that will blow your mind when surfing!”
The inflatable SUP board with real radical surfing capacities!
Introduction
The Couine Marie are high-end boards created by a renowned shaper and passionate engineers.
Our ShortSUPs are totally hassle-free surf performance oriented boards !!! Inflated within minutes, they are light and lively.
Revolution in the inflatable: GONG offers it with FCS II boxes on production models sincs 2021!!!
The most practical and top-of-the-range Fin Boxes in the world are finally available on our Inflatable Boards. With our patented attachment system, you have access to FCS II performance, the best Fins in the world, and all this without a screw. Frankly, it’s awesome.
The 2+1 configuration (2 removable lateral fins in the standard FCS II, and 1 center fin mounted on a Us Box) delivers remarkable grip in the curves and allows you to change your fin set-up to explore different surfing feelings. The board accelerates off the rail, and you can put it all away in two seconds. A revolution.
We offer 4 sizes to satisfy all surfers and remain accessible to those who want to get into surfing waves on a SUP but for whom transport or storage space is a real problem.
Very lively and responsive underfoot thanks to its Welded Double Layer Woven construction, it reveals very good surfing abilities that will amaze more than one rider out there!
Compact and easy to transport, it is the perfect Board for a surf break in between two appointments or long distance surf trips.
We like to define our Couine Marie line as the full option version of inflatable SUP boards. They are equipped with all the top of the line accessories, a beautifully worked pad and a semi-rigid edge-rail at the tail for precision and maneuverability.
With a superb design, the Couine Marie ShortSUP is really a beautiful stand up paddle board at a record price and at the top of the range
It has it all:
a super comfortable foam lined bag,
a US box compatible with all the best fins,
ergonomic silicone “racing” carrying handles,
a central foam handle in soft neoprene,
a tail pad with kicker for better control in the surf and good positioning of your back foot in turns.
Construction
With its top of the range inflatable technology in Doubled Layered Welded Woven Dropstitch, this GONG board is beautiful, light, very rigid and really solid.
The Couine Marie are the best, yet still accessible with our direct sales distribution that does not add margins. We are far from the low cost boards made in low end factories by people who know nothing about it.
GONG is a serious and renowned brand, which got into Stand Up Paddling in its very early days and brought it to the level of respectability that we know today. It is therefore unthinkable for us to make low-end products that we see in supermarkets.
Equipements
When we know that the fins make 50% of the performance of a board, it was crucial for GONG to find strong technical solutions to improve the performance of the inflatable.
The Couine Marie ShortSUP is therefore delivered with a US central fin plus 2 lateral fins to the FCSII standard.
Our fin configuration is revolutionary for an inflatable SUP: the central US fin coupled with the two FCSII fins allow it to be fitted as a rigid SUP, with all the choice of the best fins in the world compatible without tools with your board to surf almost like on a rigid SUP.
The semi-rigid rails at the tail form a ridge that precise handling and improves water outflow. We go faster and the steering is finer in surfing.
It is equipped with three carrying handles to grab it easily. A central padded and neoprene handle to carry the board under your arm. Two ergonomic silicone “turtle” handles in the front third that allow you to either pass the foams by pulling the board, or to get out of the water by dragging the board over the water. Really practical!
The large diameter leash ring is the strongest on the market. And we’ve added a towing ring for safety, but also because it’s really handy to have an attachment point on the nose during transport, at anchor, or to secure a camera.
The 5 mm thick 3D Diamond Pad is particularly designed to be comfortable. It offers flawless grip and allows long sessions without tiring or slipping. The position of the pad on the board is optimized for surfing, with a real tail pad very far back with kicker to place your foot in the curves.
The supplied double-action inflation pump is super efficient to be the first in the water.
A repair kit is also included in the event of damage (note the kit is delivered without glue which you will easily find in your DIY store). Note that we have the components of your board in stock in order to repair it fairly easily.
Everything comes in a super practical and solid rolling carry bag.
The wheels are on the opposite side to the carrying face so as not to pinch your buttocks when walking and not to roll on the carrying straps.
These backpack straps are very padded and comfortable.
The handles are super strong and comfy.
The large front pocket allows you to store your accessories and personal effects without risking losing them.
And the compression straps keep the bag volume to a minimum.
Nothing is missing !
Shape
This compact shape is the ideal compromise between speed and maneuverability in surfing. Its fluid lines are designed to facilitate maneuvers. It’s a clever adaptation of the thousands of templates we’ve developed over the past 30 years that allows for such efficient and easy handling.
The take off is early because the distribution of the volume of an inflatable makes it start early on the wave. But its rocker is heavy to negotiate the slope of the wave with ease.
The outline refined at the tips and the semi-rigid edge rails at the tail allow you to draw beautiful curves with precision. The contribution of semi-rigid rails to drive and stability in surfing is obvious. It clearly boosts your surf and you can attack harder.
For each size, the volume is important to head to the line-up quickly and comfortably in order to take a maximum of waves.
Hi,
I bought the 9’5 Couine marie ShortSUP 9.5″ 2021 recently and was able to surf with it for a few hours. Its rocker in not very heavy, so I nose dived quite a bit at first, but once used to it, it was a real pleasure to surf. It Feels lively and stiff for an inflatable. It is really worth looking at this board. Certainly given its very reasonable price.
