Armstrong Foils has continued its partnership with SailGP into the 2026 season, reinforcing its role at the very top end of foiling performance — while also helping bring the sport to a wider audience.
The collaboration sees Armstrong supplying F50 foil tips for SailGP’s high-performance race boats, as well as supporting wing foiling through the league’s development pathways.
SailGP, often described as the Formula 1 of sailing, showcases some of the fastest and most technically advanced foiling boats in the world, with F50 catamarans capable of extreme speeds and precision racing.
From Elite Racing to Everyday Foiling
While the partnership sits firmly at the cutting edge of performance, the bigger story is how that technology and exposure filters down into the wider foiling world.
Through SailGP’s “Inspire” programme, Armstrong is also helping introduce wing foiling to new riders — using global events as a platform to showcase the sport and bring younger athletes into it.
It’s a clear link between:
- Top-level foiling development (F50 race tech)
- Grassroots progression (wing foiling access and participation)
What It Means
This isn’t a new partnership — but it’s an important continuation.
Armstrong’s involvement highlights how closely connected different parts of the foiling world are becoming. What’s happening at the very highest level of racing is increasingly influencing everyday foiling — from design thinking to visibility of the sport itself.
At the same time, initiatives like Inspire show how brands and events are working together to grow the next generation of riders.
The Bigger Picture
Foiling is still evolving fast.
And partnerships like this — linking elite racing, product development, and grassroots participation — are a big part of that progression.
SUPboarder take:
It’s easy to see SailGP as a separate world to wing foiling or SUP foiling, but this partnership shows how connected it all is. High-performance racing might sit at the top — but the real impact comes when that energy feeds back into everyday riders and helps grow the sport.
