Devizes to Westminster – SUP Endurance Race 2026

The iconic Devizes to Westminster International Canoe Race (UK) will officially include a stand-up paddleboard (SUP) class for the first time in 2026, marking a major milestone for ultra-distance SUP racing. Entries close 22nd March, with the race taking place 3 - 6 April.

Known simply as “DW,” the 125-mile race from Devizes to central London is one of the toughest endurance paddle events in the world, traditionally reserved for canoe and kayak competitors. The decision follows a successful SUP trial entry in 2025, where paddlers completed the full multi-day course, demonstrating that SUP athletes can safely and competitively take on the challenge.

For 2026, SUPs will be recognized as a formal class within the four-day stages race. Both rigid and inflatable race boards will be permitted, expanding accessibility while maintaining defined equipment standards. Competitors will face the full DW course, including long canal sections, river stretches, and more than 70 portages.

The addition of SUP reflects the continued growth and maturation of SUP racing, particularly at the endurance end of the sport. With DW’s reputation as a proving ground for elite paddlers, the move is expected to attract experienced long-distance SUP racers and push the boundaries of what is possible on a stand-up board.
