I think one of the biggest things to learn about DW pumping is when not to pump, especially in really small bumps. Putting in a pump on the back of a bump or in a trough can either mean stuffing your nose into the bump in front or loosing a lot of mast height in a moment where you really need to maintain all the height you can keep. This normally happens when you get focussed on constantly moving forward through the bumps and often leads to too much pumping and exhaustion. The solution is to try to not end… Read more »
Hey Christian – yeah all super helpful points ….. every day is a school day when DWing hey 😉 I like your point about not pumping in the flats… thats something im going to certainly think about and try and glide more to the energy…. I really need to just the glide more! Totally agree on your last point….. letting go of the control is key but I find it counter intuitive…. iv been practicing with narrower stance winging lots to get more comfortable. Hopefully we can score a session together soon!
