With the Stylemaster, I think you actually get a 6” centre fin with this version of the board. The 8” fin comes on the 30.5” width 145 litre board. Perhaps you switched out the fins sometime since last year’s test.
Geoffrey, great spot! You do get a 6″ centre fin. We must have had an old Fanatic 8″ fin hanging around that I picked up. Still works a dream though 🙂 Sorry about that
Great video as always. I’ve currently got a 12’6×28 generation and sometimes play about on some standing waves, but haven’t yet taken it to the beach yet.
If I was to buy a dedicated SUP surf board, would I find a longboard too close to my Generation, or would it be quite different on a wave?
Hi Daniel, thanks for the interesting question. The biggest difference is of course in the length and shape between the Generation and a traditional longboard shape. The Generation is a great board, but definitely more suited touring/fast cruising than wave surfing – although it can do it all! Whereas a traditional surf shape will surf so much better and you will gain extra manoeuvrability and control on takeoffs, turns and riding down the line of a wave. Even if you went for 10’6 length, the difference would still be extremely noticeable. Hope this answer helps.

94kg and own a Starboard Longboard 10x29x123l and love it. Especially when waves become steeper and bigger the Starboard is so much easier to drop, turn but also to paddle out. On small stuff it simply surfs almost too good for its size. Demo-ed the Stylemaster, but imo a too flat and too wide board. Maybe for next year: The Jimmy Lewis black and blue is imo the best nose riding longboard I ever tried. Its tipy, a mediocre turning single fin, but on its nose and in glide a class apart.
Thanks for the feedback and sharing your experience riding both of these boards. We tried so hard to get a Jimmy Lewis longboard in the test and almost made it happen, so next year we will hopefully get the Black And Blue in the test. Would be good to put against the Loco Logger too.

Hi Beau, enjoying your tests and videos so thanks. Spotted at about 10:30 in the video and you turn the starboard longboard over, the featured board is a Wedge 8’7 X 32 so just a bit confused!
Hahaha, well spotted Paul. Starboard did a misprint with the label as this was a very early sample board sent from the factory. It’s definitely a longboard and not a Wedge.
Cheers Beau, keep the review’s coming, they’re great.

hello I would like to buy a fanatic stylemaster 2023
I would like to know if compared to the 2022 model only the graphics changes and I am undecided between the size 28.5 and 30.5.
I weigh 83 kg I have been doing sup for 2 years and I am improving my supsurfing.
I have been coming for 20 years of windsurfing
I currently have a naish mana 9.5 would you change it for the stylemaster or maybe it would be better to keep the naish?
Thank you
tony
Hi Tony. If you’re keen to get into longboard SUP surfing, the Stylemaster is the best choice. I’d recommend the 30.5″ wide board as it will give you more confidence and added stability when paddling for waves and out through them. Always best to be a on a board that you feel comfortable on, rather than struggling. Fanatic updated the rocker line on the 2022 Stylemaster and as far as we know, just the graphics have changed on the 2023 model. We’re glad nothing much has changed, it’s an epic board. It would replace your Naish Mana as they have… Read more »

Hi Beau, I’m discovering the SupboarderPro contents and it looks great. I share 2 questions about Stylemaster 10×28,5 : Is there a significative difference between 2021 and 2022 models ? Another question : i saw here that 2021 and 2022 models weight around 9,6kg, but the same model for 2024 on Fanatic website is announced to 8,7kg, with a similar technology if i’m not wrong, so it’s surprising. Can you confirm this difference of weight between 2024 and 2021-2022 on this model (1 kg is huge) ? I know having some weight for a longboard is not always negative on… Read more »
Hi! Thanks for the comment. Glad you’re enjoying SUPboarder Pro. There aren’t any differences between the 2021 and 2022 models. I believe they changed their design (very slightly) in 2023 by updating the rocker. The weights of boards is a weird one because Fanatic even listed the 2021 Stylemaster models at 8.7kg. We weigh each of the boards – with fins in – in our studio to ensure the correct information. Board weight tolerances come out at about +/- 5% so that would be 9.14kg with 5% extra on top of 8.7kg, + the fins would be about 9.4 /… Read more »
Thanks Beau for your accurate answer. Weight informations look a bit touchy, sometimes it’s not present on official brand website or sometimes not well replicate by dealers website. I would be happy to find a 10×28 under 9kg.
