What we say
The Aquatone Flame range of touring iSUPs offers paddlers a great entry level board to paddle faster and carry gear. They are a no frills, simple design with minimal fittings and a standard outline shape which works well for beginner and first time paddlers looking to enter the touring/adventuring SUP discipline.
11’6 Flame
The 11’6″ Flame is best suited for lighter weight riders in the 60 – 80kg range, or those who want a more manoeuvrable touring SUP thanks to the shortened 11’6 length. It’s not as fast as the 12’6″ Flame, but the smaller outline offers a better ride for those paddlers who might not be able to handle a longer board.
12’6 Flame
The 12’6 Flame is best suited to heavier riders in the 75 – 100kg weight range, or those wanting slightly more stability from an Aquatone touring SUP. The larger size enhances stability, glide and speed which translates into a better paddling experience for riders. If it’s windy or there’s lots of current, the larger size might be harder to turn around so keep this in mind.
The finishing touches could be better, a change in location for the valve point would be recommended and the deck pad a little more grippy, but they are both lightweight and do the job especially when considering the low price point.
