The sensation I feel on an inflatable vs hardboard is like dragging a clump of grass on your fin lol! At least it’s a good work out
Love these vids. I’d like to see a surf isup test. Lots of people in the group’s wanting to get into surfing but don’t want a hardboard. I’ve found a surf isup like the Loco Aztec air pretty versatile as it’s also a great kids board and great sup polo board.
As for winging. I agree with your foil comments. I’ve found very little difference going from a 5m to a 6m. My 5 is lighter and feels more stable so easier to handle. But I’m running a 2500 fanatic front foil so doesn’t need much despite my 100kg weight.
Hi Johnny, great comments, thanks. We are looking to bring a PRO iSUP surf test into the mix at some point so thanks for the reminder. There’s some great boards on the market too in this category. Great to hear your thoughts on the wing sizes and foil wing size too. Cheers.

On the discussion about longboards I’d be interested in your opinion about moving from a Sunova Style 10 * 29 * 131 to the new Casey Revolution longboard 9 * 28 * 115. I’m looking for the an all round performance shape, light weight, low swing weight but have the ability to nose ride when the mood suits. I thought that going to a 9ft would be easier to nose ride as there is less board for my clumsy footwork to mess it up.
Hi J, thanks for the question. You’re spot on thinking that 9ft is easier to get to the nose. With the 29″ width on the Casey, you still have that stable platform to walk as well. If you’re comfortable dropping volume then that would be a great step forward. You will lose some back-to-front stability with the shorter lengths o keep this in mind, but a good move if you want less swing weight.
Yes, dropping that amount of length will affect the glide. It will be noticeable, but the benefits you will see far outweigh the slight drop in glide for your needs.
How about a comparison test for the foils? The wing comparison test was great, really informative on how the different manufacturers wings perform. I am still in the beginner wing foil SUP category and will soon be looking to upgrade my foil set up. How much does weight ( carbon ) make a difference apart from cost? Also , some perspective on foil profiles, sizes, trimming etc appreciated. As always appreciate the knowledge you are sharing.
Good suggestion and TBH its on the list of Test/videos this year. We feel a really good overview video looking at different brands and foil types would answer a-lot of those question for us and many others out there.
Look forward to the Foil test. The Wing test influenced my recent purchases and am very pleased with the outcome. Well done for excellent content, and good to see so many manufacturers willing to submit kit for testing, a tribute to your objective testing, thanks.
Guys, for tests: inflatable downwind boards!! Sic Airglide 14 vs new Infinity Blackfish, vs Starboard Allstar downwind 14*28. Downwinders are cool, and after the downwind, just deflate and take them in a car/taxi/bus upwind again.
Hey Mark, this could make a great mini test. I like the idea, thanks for the share.

another test: the new Blackproject racepaddle HydroX. Is the hype real? I think it is, proven maybe by the new 24 hour world record from Niek vd Linde in Holland with this paddle. what’s your take? It saves my shoulders from injury at least

Great analogy Jason!

Head to head foil test
Noted James, thank you.
