Great review and comparison. How would you say the Generation compares to the Hypr Gun 12’6, which you reviewed a while back? They seem to be in a similar class to one another. Thanks
Hi Beau, I am casually interested in the waterline 12.6 waterline and the Starboard Go 12 by 30. In the cheapest layups. I can get both at decent prices. how do these 2 boards compare ? I presently have the Go 10.8. My thoughts are the Go 12 by 30 may be a bit better in chop and maybe more stable and relaxing. The waterline is probably faster and less stable.Am I wrong ? I am 180 pounds. What board is better ? 🙂 Bye the way I like the Go because it is fairly close to the water. I… Read more »
Hi Cam. Thanks for the comment. I know we’ve answered this via email but I’ll post it here so others can see the reply as well.
The Waterline is best for very calm water paddling like in canals or calm rivers. If there are any bumps on the water, then the Go would be the ideal choice and be more versatile with different conditions.
Thanks Beau. I am really curious about the Go 12×30. However, I cant find any thing on line about it. No videos. No user reviews. Nothing. I can buy one locally. I have the Go 10.8 and I am curious if it worth going 5 pounds heavier. It should be faster but less fun to carry. It seems like a it could be a great board for fitness paddling cause its low to the water. Why hasnt any one on this planet bought one 🙂
You seem to be right. I can’t find anything online either after a quick look. Starboard don’t have the 12′ x 30″ size in their 2024 Go range so I could be that it was too similar to the generation or touring boards or they weren’t selling many. Anything that is longer and narrower will paddle faster if that is what you are looking for.
When I paddle any board I dont think that they are that noisy. I think its my paddle that makes all the noise. With the waterline, are you not going to still get all the paddle noise ? I thought it was the noise coming from my paddle. Maybe I am wrong.
Hey Cam, You will be surprised how much noise comes from the slap from the noise of a HARD board. But I think you paddle an iSUP which is very quiet but not as efficient in its shape through the water.
Reuben I have an ISUP but also paddle Starboard Go 10.8 and a carbon 10.0 by 32 sup. I always thought that my paddle generates most of the noise but maybe it is the board. I will pay closer attention next time
