Hi Ruben, Quick question, you mentioned that the slate feels “locked in” when in quad mode but more pivotal in thruster mode. Would the same be true of the hyper nut & Raptor boards? I only ask because they are quad only – would they also come alive if they had the thruster option set up? You don’t mention this in the review of them. Cheers.
Good question Jon… Ok, some boards work better in quads and some better in thrusters. And with the JP that was definitely the case. And being able to test it you could feel it easily. The Hyper Nut did work really well as a quad, but as I said on the video would of been nice to try it as as thruster. It could of made it even more responsive, but it then would of changed the speed and other characteristics of the board too. Reuben, Thanks for the explanation. After watching your first review I thought I’d give my Slate a go as a thruster rather than as the quad which I had been running. I was expecting a marked difference in response & manoeuvrability. I did notice the loss in rail drive, acceleration & down the line speed but thought that any increase in turning response was negligible. I should point out that I’m riding the 29″ wide Slate not the 28″ that you tested & suspect that this might be the defining difference between the significant response that you noticed.
