It’s always interesting hearing about and seeing what shape and sized boards the worlds best are riding. This video from Deep Ocean Boards has the Oz ripper Jackson Close talking all about his new signature model and board choice. And then he paddles out at Burleigh Heads to show what he can do on it.
It’s not until he gets on the first wave that you realise who else he’s surfing with!! …now that’s what you call a busy break!! If you’re used to surfing a busy break like this one at Burleigh Heads, south of Brisbane, in Australia then seeing this number of heads in the line up won’t shock you. But if you’re not used to crowds then you’re probably thinking… is there room to actually surf?!! It does make you wonder how the hell there aren’t more collisions in the lineup. Jackson Close is obviously well used to dealing with crowds. It must be a good way of improving your cut backs and bottom turns… because if you don’t make it the guy infront of you won’t either!!
What would you prefer? Busy, perfect waves in boardshorts? Or quite not so perfect waves in a 5mm suit? You can’t always have it all.
