Setting off on my paddle of just a few hundred metres to the stacks across the glassy sea, sheltered by the cliff in tranquil conditions seemed like perfect paddling conditions. But as soon as I hit the water, nature put me in my place and made me feel incredibly small. The imposing cliffs, the flocks of birds swooping around my head reinforcing their presence, the eerie evening light and a seal, bigger than me, popping up metres in front of immediately put me to my knees. The wildlife was making its presence known- this was certainly not my home.
Paddling around the stacks, it didn’t feel like I was in the UK, the environment was incredible and the ability of an I-SUP to bring me here was incredible. As for the scenery, I guess the pictures do the talking. They give a feel for the scale of the place, its sheer un-spoilt beauty. Unfortunately they don’t give you a feel for the crazy atmosphere on the water, to get that you just have to get out there on your SUP and experience it for yourself…. Let SUP capture your imagination and get you to places you never thought possible….
