Go the next step in your surfing instructor career. This workshop focuses on analysis and technique correction. With practical hands of skills you’ll learn how to assess and coach individuals and groups to improve surfing ability and create individualised training programs for the recreational surfer.
Ideal for instructors who already have advanced level surfing skill and a minimum of 24 months Level 1 Surfing Instructor experience.
Delivered by ASI TRAINER Mike Raven Delivered by British renowned elite Surfer, Mike Raven. He has been surfing at age 6. Mike won his first surfing competition at the age of 14 and was mens European circuit winner by the age of 17 (still a junior) collecting many national titles and surfing for the Cornish, English and British Teams until the age of 34 when he stopped competing and concentrated on Raven Surf School.
Mike runs Groms (kids) club for local kids, producing some surfing national champions and works with Bude haven School and CATS ( Community Action Through Sports) for disadvantage and at risk students.
Although no longer competing professionally, Mike still enters competitions and in November 2013, at the age of 45, became the British Senior Surfing Champion.
Mike has been training instructors in UK and overseas for over 10 years. He is in demand as a trainer with a style that draws on his elite surfing skills, surf school operations experience and competition knowledge, providing a hands on practical focus to all his workshops.

He was one of the first surf school camps in Portugal, and has extensive experience in surf school/camp/tour operations,instructor training and competition surfing coaching, working with and inspiring many Portugese champions. Sergio speaks Portuguese, (native language), English, French and Italian.
All instructors receive Instructor training manual and learn to surf technique reference manuals and free ASI instructor t-shirt.

Gwithian and St Ives Bay is one of the best places to surf in Britain. The north end of the bay picks up almost every bit of swell that the Atlantic can throw at it so in the summer you can get a wave on the smallest of days.
Martin is a highly experienced and an ASI Level 4 Master Surfing Coach, holding surf rescue and senior first aid qualifications. Martin is a top rate British surfer. He grew up in Plymouth, surfing the breaks in South Devon and North Cornwall and has also travelled to surf breaks around the world..

Bude is a fantastic location – with amazing surf, bodyboard and Stand Up Paddle flat water locations.
ASI CEO Tania Nesbitt has been involved in selecting the new location and appointing administration staff.
Its all gone very well. Although the new in-house copier-printer was the biggest challenge to install, says Nesbitt. It was pulled apart then took 3 big guys and lifting equipment to get it inside.
All systems are go, with full technology links to our offices in Australia and the USA.

ASI has created the following SUP instructor framework to provide a range of instructor accreditation workshops to suit your location and skills.
Level 1 SUP Instructor (Enclosed Flat Water) for instructing at inland waterways and bodies of water including creeks, rivers, lakes, lagoons, estuaries, canals that are no wider than 1 km, with no swell or breaking waves.
Level 2 SUP Instructor (Exposed Waters) for instructing at protected coastal beaches, bays, harbours and inland bodies of water wider than 1 km (0.6 miles). Shore-break up to 1½ feet, swell size up to 2ft. No breaking waves.
Level 3 SUP Instructor (Downwind and Distance Paddling) for instructing for 10 kms, (6.2 miles) paddles with the wind behind and speed greater than 15 knots and less than 20 knots. Locations defined as wide open stretches of water such as exposed coastal waters and protected bays, lakes, lagoons. Swell size up to 4 ft, no more than 500 metres from shore.
Level 3 SUP Instructor (Beginner Surf) Instruct and manage stand up paddle surfing sessions in surf up to 1½ ft (½ metre).
SUP Instructor Water Rescue Award Perform simple rescues in SUP enclosed flat water and exposed waters locations or beginner surf locations.
