What we say
After us recently reviewing the new Honu Bondi surfing iSUP we were excited to get on the new smaller Honu Sorrento. Honu’s previous and bigger 12’6″x 30″ Sorrento was a very stiff and well performing touring SUP that riders all around the world are loving. This new Sorrento may be the same width (30″) but by being shorter (11’3″) and thinner (4.7″) it really does offer something different, and ideal for many mid to lighter weight riders.

Our RCMD rider weight: 95kg
Board weight: 8.9kg
Fin set up: Split US Box | 9.4" Tour Fin
Pros: Paddles well with good speed and glide, 4.7" in thickness and still stiff enough for even the heavier riders in the weight range, overall finish and build quality is high, good overall weight and looks slick.
Cons: Some paddlers may want more cargo and carrying points.
Consider buying if... you're a rider wanting a board that can do all types of paddling well, from light touring to just going for a social sup. And are looking for a thinner thickness board to give you that more direct feel to the water. The 11'3" Sorrento rider sweet spot range is 85kg and down.

What the brand says
Touring paddleboarders will love how rigid the board feels on the water despite its weight, making it easy to manoeuvre on and off the water. Paddlers will see the quality of construction in every part of the package, from the board to the bag and newly desgned touring fin.
When designing the new Sorrento 11'3, the goal was simple: Take the materials, shape and technology that made the full-size Sorrento an award winner and apply it to a smaller, lower-volume version. Not satisfied stopping there, we also introduced new features like the integrated action camera mount and a refined EVA traction pad that flows seamlessly over a large tail kickpad. The new Sorrento 11'3 is perfect for lighter paddlers or those wanting a faster day touring board that is incredibly light & responsive out on the water.
Constructed with our X-woven material and Honu's exclusive Welded Carbon Rails, the Sorrento 11'3 delivers an unmatched feeling of speed and stability out on the water.
SUP tourers will appreciate the attention to detail and craftsmanship found in the construction of the board and every detail of every accessory. Having worked on welding rails now for over two years, our production team have perfected the art of welding to produce rails that are not only floorless but will outlast any non-welded board.
Thanks for the video. I just took out my sorento 11.3 out yesterday for the 2nd time. Its a great board. I owned or tried about 10 other name brand ISUPS and this is my favorite. It is light to carry and glides the best of others I tried. I am 165 pounds and this might be my do everything board except for surfing. I will fish from it and I may concider doing my 1st SUP over night with it. Reuben I agree that Honu should have considerd back bungies. I may be able to rig something up. I… Read more »
Thanks for your feedback Cam. Glad you are loving the board.
I think the stringers would of made it stiffer again but they would add more weight on the board for certain also. So its one of those compromise. Im looking forward to hearing about your first overnighter with it.
I am curious Reuben, How much weight would the stringers add ? One thing I love about this board now is how light it weighs I think I weighed mine at 19 pounds. I need to weigh it again. I think that the lighter my ISUP is the less sticky it is in the water. Also, Its interesting that they did not add a speed tale.
I really need to force myself to do an overnight. Also, I think its time for your 2nd solo trip 🙂 The Honu 11.3 reminds me of your Red Sport 11
Hey Cam , I will have to ask Honu what they think the over weight would be to have the stringer on the Sorrento.
Also it will put the cost up quite abit I think aswell. Its always hard for brands to work out what most paddlers want on average, Weight , stiffness and over cost??
Yes we both need to get back on the water and do an overnighter.
I do understand why some paddlers prefer (need?) inflatables (storage, transport, rocks), but I don’t understand the benefits of a shorter board. They don’t glide better and their slower. Can someone explain?
Hey Jeff, you are correct longer is always faster and will offer you more glide. But for many paddlers out there who are definitely lighter in their body weight they may not feel they need the extra length to make the board relatively as fast to paddle for their weight. Or they may wish to have a shorter board which is easier to move and transport around and even move around on the water over a longer board. Like with all equipment there are so many different people wanting it for different things. I know if his board was made… Read more »
