Introducing Starboard Wings: A New Era in Wingfoiling Innovation

Starboard has always been about pushing performance, accessibility, and sustainability. From its early windsurfing roots in 1994 to groundbreaking SUP board designs, innovation has been the brand’s DNA.

Wing development has long been part of Starboard’s journey. Collaborations with Jim Drake, co-creator of windsurfing and inventor of the wing, date back decades. In 2011, Starboard produced one of the first inflatable wings, and by 2020, the team was already building and testing double-surface prototypes in their Thailand workshop.

With Starboard Wings, the company now combines its world-class R&D, engineering, and eco-ethos into a dedicated wingfoil lineup.

The 2026 Wing Lineup

Starboard is launching four wings in 2026, covering every discipline and level of progression:

• VIVA – A lightweight all-rounder made to perform across conditions and disciplines.

• SOURCE – A low-aspect freeride wing built for smooth handling and fun progression.

• REACTOR – High maneuverability for surf and freestyle, designed for instant response.

• BOWSTRING – A race-ready wing built for maximum speed and control, featuring a new patented structure.

Supporting the range, Starboard is introducing ultra-thin UD carbon booms with ergonomic grip profiles, available in multiple diameters and lengths to improve handling and comfort.

Racing, Community & Sustainability

Starboard’s wing ambitions build on its history in foiling and windsurfing. The brand’s X-15 One-Design Class will help shape a clear pathway for future wingfoil racing.

True to its values, Starboard continues to lead with environmental responsibility. Since 2017, the company has measured and offset its carbon footprint, funding mangrove planting, eco-education, and ocean plastic recovery. Every wing sold will support the collection of 1.4 kg of ocean plastic — the average person’s yearly footprint.

Availability

The VIVA will be the first model released, available for pre-order soon, followed by the SOURCE, REACTOR, and BOWSTRING models in the coming months.
