Matty Schweitzer was there to film the first day of competition at the Da Hui Backdoor Shootout 2018. An event where surfing, longboard, bodysurf as well as SUP surfing disciplines all get their chance to shoot it out at the world famous Pipeline reef break on north shores of Oahu, Hawaii.
Good to see many of the worlds best there including Matty’s brother Zane Schweitzer, as well as Kai Lenny who was still riding a Naish board in this event despite the news last week about him leaving them.

Well spotted Tim! I cant imagine Zane is taking on the Pipe with just a twin fin setup. He usually runs this boards in a thruster setup. So maybe he had just taking out the centre fin and was about to make it into a quad for Pipeline?? But then I’m sure Zane could probably ride it finless anyway!!
