Whitewater SUP events are being held all around the world but this event caught SUPboarder’s eye. Held in France it combines many different aspects of whitewater SUP, including racing to night river wave surfing! This invite only event definitely looks like one you’d want to get your name on the list, if you’re into WWSUP! Here are some words from the Whitewater SUP Challenge team about the event.
“For the first time the Whitewater SUP challenge took place in the Cher Valley in France. To the program of this event, by invitation, Sup Cross and Sup river surfing.
From all over France and from different specialties, fifteen participants met on the weekend of the 4th and 5th of March, on the wave of the Mazelles (41) and on the whitewater stadium of Tournon St Martin.
In the program, 3 tests: SUP surfing, SUP cross and SUP cross mass start.
An expression session (Sup Surfing) by night was also proposed during this event.
Nicolas Fayol won the challenge, in front of Loris Minvielle and Benjamin Vaurs. In the womens category, Ingrid Ulrich on her pink board Gong, made a strong impression by competing with men. Again “bravo Madame”.
The organization is already considering the 2018 edition, which will take place on another location, but always with the same program: whitewater, surf and Sup cross.
