SUPboarder talks about SUP leashes and leash care. By keeping an eye on your leash you can help prevent having a leash break on you and damaging your board or someone else in the surf. It’s a simple thing but when it breaks it can be a big problem.

Great advice. This had never occurred to me. I’m going to have to bin a couple of my leashes as I had never checked them…I think I would of had a very long swim had I left it much longer.
Nice one Tom. Yeah, sometimes its just not worth the risk!

I’ve had a couple of leashes break in bigger conditions, leaving quite a swim to my board. This is despite regular checks, but not as detailed as you suggest here. Is it also worth changing leashes every couple of years?
Yeah if I’m surfing a bigger day I always use a new or very new leash for that session. I keep my older leashes for the small wave days. IF you are surfing regularly I would bring a new leash into play ever 6 months!
