The fishing town of Sayulita has been invaded by the worlds best, as all the competitors get ready for the first day of competition. The first surfing heats are set to kick off today at 2pm UK time.

Last practice session this morning before the main event starts tomorrow morning lots of beach activity French ,American and TEAM GB (#SUPteamGB)on the beach at 7.45 am.The UK Race team with Olli Shilston ,Marie Buchanan and Andy Joyce were out training through the surf .Super hot out here in Sayaulita Mexico looks like the distance events will start early in the morning to avoid the power of sun during the day .Ollie Shilston said “This morning was about getting acclimatised with a full on work out in the heat and getting to understand the line up on race boards. “

Matt Barker-Smith was out with Holly Bassett getting into the surf –the conditions picked up this morning with clean solid 3ft runners hitting the reef .Matt said “you’ve got to watch the sections as the bigger sets close out and wave selection is going to be important in the first heats .The wave is predominately right with a left section is available as crumbs into shallow rocky water.”
