Whitewater Stand Up Paddle at the OUTDOORMIX FESTIVAL in the French Alps.
The Outdoor Festival presented 9 outdoor sports from May the 8th to the 11th in the French Alps (Hautes-Alpes, France). On the one hand, there were meeting and demo’s (longskate, kitesurf, windsurf, paraglide, highline) and competition on the other hand (AWP World cup of whitewater kayaking, French cup of freestyle kayaking, contest of jumpline, bike with a DH marathon and an Urban DH, SUP).
Regarding Stand Up Paddle, it was the third step of the SUP River Tour. Fifteen riders took part in the 2 steps competition. Most of them were French but some Germans were there too. Those riders came from various paddling disciplines : a World champion of wildwater canoeing in 2004, a former French Team member of marathon canoeing-kayaking, a freestyle canoe French team member, SUP racer…
Step 1 : SHORT RACE
A two steps race :
First, two rounds around the lake near the whitewater stadium of L’Argentière-la-Bessée, then the riders run with their board below their arm until the Durance River for the race second step. This 4,2 km race mixes a flat race and a river race.

Step 2 : LONG RACE
10 km on the Durance from the famous spot of le Rabioux to the event village of the Outdoormix festival at Embrun (on the edges of Serre-Ponçon Lake).

FINAL TOP-RANKING
- Harald Marzolf, who won a STARBOARD SUP.
- Yann Morais, who won a SANDILINE drysuit.
