Experienced whitewater paddlers Michael Tavares and Haley Mills, talk about the white water SUP scene, and why it’s exploded in the USA. They make it look great fun, and show that you don’t have to be on the coast to enjoy waves on your SUP! Standing play waves are a great place to practice your SUP surfing moves and paddle changes. SUPing in whitewater is an amazing dynamic side of the sport, but as always white water has to be treated with respect and caution. As more and more people get into whitewater paddle boarding in the UK, it’s very important that its carried out safely, and people are aware of the risks and safety equipment required. The guys in the video are experienced white water paddlers, so before you set off down a river on your SUP talk to the experts! Your local SUP club/shop may run white water SUP lessons/expeditions or be able to put you in touch with someone who’s experienced in white water paddling to tell you a bit more about it.
If you are a white water paddle boarder please let us know on the SUPboarder forum post about Safety and what you are paddling and why?
‘Together we can make the sport safer for everybody’… many thanks, SUPboarder
