Thank you for direct comparison with other touring sups. I have few questions though and would be really grateful if I could get your insight on the matter. I finally managed to test both Voyager 13,2 and Touring deluxe 12,6. Both of them 2019 models. Touring is 30″ and i guess that’s the only difference from 2018 and Voyager is the same. Hi – some very good questions here… Both these boards are extremely good, very well thought out touring boards so you will really enjoy both. I do a lot of touring and mostly use the Red Voyager 12’6″. It’s a great board however paddling into stiff winds I have had problems which I attribute to the somewhat rounded nose. Like Will I do a lot of touring in choppy water with coastal side winds. I am considering buying the Starboard Deluxe 12’6″ or the Voyager 13’2″. I know they are both great boards but which one do you feel has the edge in chop and crosswinds.
H Mark, I would agree, the 12’6 Red is more rounded in the nose – the SB Touring nose is pretty good at cutting through the chop – due to outline shape and rocker. When it comes to the SB12’6 or the Voyager 13’2 both excellent boards ive used them both, but circumnavigated Menorca on the SB so really got to know it. In general I feel 13′ is a really nice compromise size for a touring boards from a cross wind and glide compromise perspective, a few brands have picked up on this, one is Hatha and their Stride.… Read more »
