What we say
One of the most talked about shapes since its release back in 2015, the Hyper Nut continues to excite the market. The inverted nut rails along with the parallel outline allow you to ride this board way shorter than your average SUP which does mean you need to change the way you surf. Getting low, bending the knees and cutting your turns short allows you to get the most out of the Hyper Nut. A very fun board for less than ideal conditions where you may need extra stability and speed along the wave face.
Comes in Limited Series and Starlite construction for 2023 for better durability.
*Blue Carbon is the 2022 board and the shape remains the same for 2023.

Fin set up: Quad + US Fin Box
Pros: This board is fast, loose and carries across flat section on the wave easily. The stability is amazing from such a small board and can handle punching over waves easily. Fun factor is high on this board!
Cons: It will take a few sessions to get used to surfing this design. Needs the right conditions and surfing style to get the most out of the board. You can't have this SUP as your only board in your quiver.
Consider buying if... You want a board that feel completely different to anything you have ever ridden and want to inject some more fun into your surfing on those average days.

What the brand says
“The Hyper Nut’s stability and manoeuvrability set a new benchmark in the shortboard SUP surfing.”
The Hyper Nut Surf model offers stability from a larger board and the performance of a smaller board. This surf paddle board is a newfound love in every SUP surfer’s quiver, it offers excitement to the most mediocre conditions. The short outline, thin rail and tail shape transform the performance. The all-new Hyper Nut design is the 3rd evolution of this favorite compact shape that is proven to offer a skatey and reactive ride like no other. The deeper tail shape combined with new fin angles give you more grip and bite through turns, while the narrower rounded nose is less likely to catch through turns.
I have the “old” 7.10×31.5x131l (besides a several other boards) and really agree with your findings. 🙂 The only 2 thing I wanna ad is that the hypernut is really king in crap conditions and with crap I mean not a mediocre cornwall day in the review but really crap. Because the UK blocks 90% of the waves we have in the netherlands mostly winddriven slow 4sec period short peaky unorganised chaos waves. In such conditions the Hypernut shines because of its stability and ability to generate speed out of virtual nothing. Where my former Starboard Pro 8.5 and current… Read more »
Yes, some very good points. Thanks for adding your thoughts and opinions the boards its great to share with the community. Don’t forget you can ‘HAVE YOUR SAY’ as well and submit your own review of the board above 🙂
Hi Beau ! great and honest review ! I have this board since 2016. At that time it was recommended for small mushy waves and for stability. I thought perfect for our North Sea conditions… Short SUP surf board was also the hype at that time… I took the 8′ 130 L with the Bamboo deck (I am 90+ kg). I did feel my progression was on hold with this board for a few years (slow to paddle, not so stable in choppy conditions, rail to rail difficult,…). I got afterward a long SUP 10′ 140 L and started only… Read more »
