Max Torres earned the win in the SUP division at the 2026 Da Hui Backdoor Shootout, putting together a clean and controlled performance at Pipeline. While the surf was fairly small by Pipeline standards, it always a place of consequence but Torres made the most of the conditions with smart wave selection and polished execution.
Sebastián Gómez finished in second place after a solid showing of his own, pushing the pace throughout the SUP heat. The division delivered a strong display of technical SUP surfing, even in subdued North Shore conditions.
A shoutout to Jose Jarita Gomez who probably scored the best barrel of the event!
