Brendon Prince Targets Record-Breaking Paddle Around Britain — Rowing

Five years after completing one of the most significant expeditions in stand-up paddleboarding history, Brendon Prince is preparing to circle the coastline of Great Britain once again — this time with a clear record-breaking goal of fastest circumnavigation by rowing.

Prince has announced plans to row solo around the entire mainland coast of Great Britain in record time, an expedition titled The Long Row 2026. The attempt marks the second time the world-record-holding adventurer will travel the full British coastline, following his historic SUP journey in 2021.

Partnering with Leo Coastal Rowing, Prince will take on the solo circumnavigation using a purpose-built coastal rowing craft, as he looks to push the limits of endurance and speed around one of Europe’s most complex and demanding coastlines.

The announcement has immediately drawn attention within the paddling and endurance sports communities — not least because of the echoes of Prince’s landmark SUP expedition, The Long Paddle. In 2021, he became the first person to stand-up paddleboard around mainland Britain, a journey that unfolded over months and tested every aspect of physical resilience and mental strength.

Now, the question on everyone’s mind: He’s doing it again?

While rowing presents a different physical challenge, the route itself remains unforgiving. Long exposed stretches, powerful tides and unpredictable weather will once again define daily progress, making the record-time objective as much about strategy and decision-making as raw endurance.

Alongside the sporting ambition, The Long Row 2026 carries a strong charitable focus. Prince will be raising funds for Above Water, a charity dedicated to teaching children vital water-safety skills and drowning prevention — a cause closely aligned with his own experiences on the water.

Prince is set to begin the challenge in July 2026, with supporters able to follow his progress throughout the journey. Opportunities for partnerships and involvement in the expedition are also being opened as preparations continue.

Whether viewed as a sequel to The Long Paddle or a bold reinvention of it, The Long Row 2026 reinforces a defining theme of Prince’s career: returning to the same daunting coastline, not because it is familiar — but because it still offers unanswered questions.
