This race is captivating like you wont believe, join us 24 hours a day from November 30th and see who will be THE LAST PADDLER STANDING!
The Last Paddler Standing might possibly be the most unique paddle race in the world, designed to give an endurance challenge to all types of stand up paddlers this race and the stories it creates is incredibly compelling and strangely addictive.  For the second year running SUPboarder is partnering with The Last Paddle Standing to bring this incredibly compelling race to YOU via LIVE STREAM this November. We caught up with race founder Greg Wingo to understand a little more about the race and why you should tune in from November 30th until sometime on December 1st.
Interview with Greg Wingo - Race Director and founder:
This ‘race’ is a very different format, can you tell us what’s involved?
Unlike any other paddling race in the world, Last Paddler Standing is a SUP racing competition of stamina and strategy. Racers will paddle a 3.33 mile loop course, starting and finishing the loop within a one-hour period. The next loop will begin on the hour and the race goes until only one paddler is left standing. At the 48 hour mark, the length of the loop will be increased to 4.9 miles which is where the race really begins. Â
So the race is very unique, why have you designed it like this?
It is unique for many reasons but the format allows you to have both genders able to pretty effectively be on level playing fields during the race. So unlike other races, where factors like strength and speed might favor the male athlete over the female athlete, this race is designed to neutralize that as much as possible and focus on things like endurance and stamina that are a little less traditionally gender based.
Its also an incredibly tough challenge which creates some incredible story lines over the 3 days. In the first two additions, the race captured the imagination of so many live stream viewers all over the world, hooked on the drama.

The race really changes at the 48th lap, with the course lengthening… what’s this all about?
It is a race that doesn’t become an actual race until 49 hours into it, which certainly makes it more unique than anything else out there. The first 48 hours are more focused on your ability to just maintain and make it through hour by hour, but once the 49th hour comes around and the size of the loop increases, then it becomes much more about how hard and fast you can paddle. So that is something that definitely makes it stand apart from anything out there.
Why should people consider tuning into the race via the LIVE STREAM over the last weekend of November?
I think it’s really compelling for people to watch this race, because unlike most other paddle races that you can watch, where they are over in a matter of minutes or even an hour or two, this one lasts for days and days, and the drama unfolding is probably something that keeps most people really interested in what happening. The physical and mental strength the athletes show creates some unbelievable emotion that seems to captivate our viewers all over the world!
Good luck everyone. Alex, we love you bro!
