The 2024 edition of the Battle For Hercules concluded earlier this month with Aarón Sánchez and Alba Frey taking the win in the Elite category.

On April 12, the beach of Malapesquera in Benalmádena witnessed a new edition of the Battle For Hercules. This nationally and internationally renowned event in the SUP Race discipline, brought together more than 220 competitors, becoming a long-awaited event for lovers of our sport.
The event was supported by the Provincial Council of Malaga, Senda Azul and the Nautical Maritime Club of Benalmádena, among other sponsors.
The weather conditions were perfect for the competition, which attracted a large number of spectators to the beach of Malapesquera to witness the sporting event. The different categories competed in a technical circuit that offered excellent visibility for the public.
The young talents of the SUP Race showed off their skill in the SUB8, SUB10 and SUB12 categories, demonstrating the promising future of this sport with the participation of athletes from all over Spain, supported by their coaches and families.
The SUB14 and SUB16 categories continued, facing the challenging technical course that demanded the best of each competitor. The buoy turns and the carrying generated excitement in the waters of Benalmádena, with a high level of participation of both local and international competitors.
The excellent organization in charge of the CNM Benalmádena Team Hercules and its volunteers guaranteed the success of the event, providing support to all participants from their arrival at the beach.
The Elite and U18 categories starred in exciting competitions, with the participation of prominent international and national riders. The demanding race included both a technical route and a long distance of 10 km, challenging competitors in open water.
After an exciting arrival of the first group in the men’s category, the Mallorcan Aaron Sánchez achieved first place in this category ahead of the Dutchman Donato Freens followed by the riders of Los Caños: Antonio Morillo and Fernando Pérez.
In the men’s U18 category, it would be the Galician Iván Puente who crossed the finish line first, followed by Marc Simoncelli and local rider Jorge Valenzuela.
As for the women’s category, the Canarian Alba Frey showed a great performance throughout the tour as well as the current world runner-up, the Mallorcan Duna Gordillo, with a final victory for Alba Frey. The third place went to Sonia Caimari, from the Port Adriano team, as well as Duna.
In the women’s U18 category, Laura Paricio from Alicante was crowned champion in this category ahead of Amelia Moral of Mallorca. Also highlight the victory of “our” rider, Marina Navarro, in the Master category being 10ª in the overall of the women’s classification.
The Amateur and Popular categories closed the day with massive participation, where fans of all levels enjoyed roading along with other sports enthusiasts.
The event culminated with the awards ceremony at the facilities of the Nautical Club, followed by a celebration with paella and concert for athletes and spectators.
The Battle For Hercules has left its mark in Benalmádena and is already preparing for the 2025 edition, with the aim of continuing to promote the growth of Stand Up Paddle in the region.
