What we say
Aztron has updated their 2022 Touring range of composite SUPs and we found both the Apollo and Europa to be great all-round performers. With striking colours and good designs, these boards tick a lot of boxes when deciding if a hard touring board is right for you.
Apollo
The Apollo is the larger of the two boards at 30″ wide and 280L of volume. This means it works well for those heavier riders up to 105kg or those searching for a little more stability in their first hard board. It is slightly heavier than stated online at 17.2kg, but fairly comparable to many other boards on the market too.
Europa
The Europa is the higher performing brother to the Apollo as it feels lively and more nimble in the water. This is thanks to the 14.2kg of weight and narrowed width of 28.5″. This still offers great stability for riders in the weight range of 50-90kg. You could go a little over that if you are advanced in skill. The bamboo construction makes it lighter in weight and actually looks pretty cool too. You could easily find more basic constructions from premium brands for the price of this board, which is a bonus.
The standing tray is a good addition to the design, but water pools on the deck when paddling in choppy conditions as there’s no run off. The fin is ok, but a larger volume touring fin would be a nice addition.
