Challenging conditions, chunky swell and carnage sums up ‘The King of the Waves’ event in New Zealand this year! The SUP Surf Race held at Piha was definitely an exciting one for both competitors and spectators. For those of you who’ve been to Piha, near Auckland, you’ll know that it’s an extremely challenging and potentially dangerous beach break due to the strong currents. So paddling it on a race board in solid swell must have been really tough… and pretty scary to be honest!
First place went to Zane Schweitzer whilst first Kiwi home was Armie Armstrong.
